The Bushnell Wingman Mini combines a compact Bluetooth speaker with audible GPS distances. It is aimed at golfers who would rather hear yardages than check a watch or phone. Bushnell’s “up to 10 hours” battery figure is a manufacturer claim, so real use, volume and battery age can affect how long it lasts.
Short answer: it may suit a golfer who wants a small clip-on speaker and voice yardages in one unit. It is less compelling if you already have a GPS watch, dislike audio on the course, or want a replaceable battery. Be considerate of playing partners and follow the course’s rules on devices and sound.
What it does
Bushnell describes the Wingman Mini as a portable Bluetooth speaker with audible GPS distances and a BITE magnetic mount. It pairs with the Bushnell Golf app for GPS/course information. The product manual lists a 170g weight, IPX7 water-resistance rating, a 40mm speaker, a carabiner and an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery that is not replaceable by the user. Always check the latest UK package contents and warranty before buying.
The manual also describes True Wireless Stereo pairing, which can connect two compatible speakers for playback. That is an audio feature; it is not necessary for the GPS yardage function. The Bushnell Golf app and course data are part of the setup, so check phone compatibility and update instructions before your first round.
Who is it for?
- Golfers who prefer spoken yardages: audible distances can reduce the need to look down at a screen.
- Players who already carry a speaker: the GPS function combines two uses in one accessory.
- People who value portability: the compact design, carabiner and magnetic mount offer different ways to attach it.
If you want a full hole map, a watch or handheld GPS may be more useful. Our GPS golf watch guide compares that style of device.

Practical points before you buy
- Battery: “up to 10 hours” is a best-case manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed round count. Charge it before play and consider whether a built-in battery suits you.
- Course audio: keep any music or alerts at a level that does not distract other groups, and follow the club’s guidance.
- App setup: install the Bushnell Golf app and check course/GPS update steps before heading out.
- Mounting: decide whether you would use the carabiner, BITE magnet or both. Check that your bag or cart offers a suitable secure position.
- Water protection: IPX7 is the rating stated in the manual; it does not mean you should ignore care instructions or expose charging ports to water.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Wingman Mini give GPS distances without a phone?
Bushnell’s setup uses its Golf app for GPS/course information. Check the current app and device instructions for pairing and course update requirements before relying on it during a round.
Can I use it as an ordinary Bluetooth speaker?
It is a Bluetooth speaker as well as a GPS audio device. The manual describes pairing and playback functions; check the current instructions for controls and TWS pairing.
Is the battery replaceable?
The product manual describes an internal, non-replaceable rechargeable lithium-ion battery. If user-replaceable power matters to you, compare another model.
Verdict
The Wingman Mini’s appeal is its combination of spoken GPS yardages and a small Bluetooth speaker. Consider it if you will use both and are comfortable charging an internal battery. If you mainly want silent mapped distances, a watch or handheld GPS is likely a more straightforward fit.
